Development Post
Project Development Post:
This Post will Be Continuously Updated as i progress through this Project to reflect the different stages of Development i went through in a neat organised manner instead of scattered through out my blog.
Project Run Down So Far
At the Start of Semester my Jumping off point was wanting to create a live action animation.
Having been a fan of Films like Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Cool World.
My Initial Idea was to take a video of me walking through the Otepuni Gardens and animate in a bunch of little fantasy creatures that i would interact with and would interact with the environment.
This was the idea i proposed in my first critique.
Unfortunately i was unable to build a research question around this idea and my feedback from the class all aimed in the same direction. I was not experimenting / trying anything new that hadn't been done before.
With the feedback of this critique I went back and reevaluated my question.
I wanted to keep the concept of live action animation but add my own twist to it.
With the help of my Friends i was able to determine that my best course of action was to add more attributes to my question. I decided to experiment with a few ideas.
I tried to incorporate the fantasy aspect into my question by making my live action animation revolve around me turning my video footage of the Park into my own idea of what a magical forest would look like.
Unfortunately i couldn't build a well developed question around this.
Ruth Gave us a power point presentation to fill in for our second critique.
As time is drawing near to the proposal date i have decided to go with a more comical look at live action animation which plays to my strengths.
After one day walking to campus i saw a homeless man peeing in the park and at the time this was a very disturbing event.
but after retelling the story to my friends they all found it hysterical so i decided to run with this idea.
and developed my first picture concept that used the photo of the Area of the event and placed a animated character in the image to retell the event.
Second Critique:
I presented my new idea and question.
A Practiced-based examination of Stereotyping cartoon characters within animated Satire comedy and a live action approach to animation
This question allowed for development and experimentation with in the question.
After my critique i got a positive response from my class and Ruth.
Ruth told me to link my project more to the ideas i presented in my critique.
and find a way to link it to my audience.
A Practiced-based examination of modern cartoon characters, animated Satire comedy and a live action approach to animation within a Invercargill setting.
This will be my focus question i believe this question allows for experimentation and development within the practice based / practical parts of my projects projects development and the final product i will produce.
